Google Wallet Expands Digital ID Feature, Now Supports Arkansas

Google is continuing to expand the Google Wallet’s digital ID feature to more states in the US. The company recently added Arkansas, making it the 10th state to support this feature. This means more Android users can now store their state ID securely on their phones and use it when needed.
Google Wallet’s Digital ID feature is now available in 10 US states
Google Wallet is a secure digital wallet that keeps all your important items in one place. Available for Android devices, including Samsung Galaxy phones, it lets you access loyalty cards, concert tickets, boarding passes, digital keys, and IDs right from your phone. However, the digital ID feature is not available in all states in the US.
As of now, the list of supported states includes Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, New Mexico, and North Dakota. For the uninitiated, the digital ID feature within Google Wallet lets you add your ID pass, driver’s license, or state ID. This makes it easier to use your ID for TSA travel at major airports across the US.
Thanks to Android’s advanced security, your digital IDs remain safe in Google Wallet. The system encrypts the ID passes, meaning you need to use your fingerprint or PIN to view or share the card. Furthermore, you can review exactly what information the agency requested before using your ID for identity verification.

To add your digital ID, open the Google Wallet app and then tap the Add to Wallet button. Now select Driver’s License or State ID and choose your state from the list. You will need to take photos of your physical ID (both sides), as well as a short video of your face for verification. This information is sent to the state agency for review, which usually takes just a few minutes. Once approved, you will receive an email from the agency.
