Samsung Confirms Fix Coming for One Hand Operation+ Black Toolbar Issue

It looks like a bug within the One Hand Operation+ module has affected how it detects the phone’s theme settings. If your Galaxy device is running One UI 8, you may probably notice that the quick toolbar always remains black. The good news is that Samsung is aware of the issue and has promised to address it in the next app update.

Part of Good Lock, One Hand Operation+ makes it easier to control your Galaxy device with just one hand. The module adds a slim gesture handle onto the left/ right side of the screen, letting you execute functions using simple thumb swipes. Furthermore, you can optimize gesture recognition depending on the size of your hand. This comes in handy when you are using a large-screen device that makes reaching certain parts of the display difficult.

A few months ago, Samsung made the One Hand Operation+ compatible with the latest One UI 8 software. However, many users have recently started noticing a weird issue with the modules’ functionality. The quick toolbar does not switch colors based on the phone’s theme. We can confirm the issue on Galaxy S24 and S25 phones, with other models also likely affected.

Even when the system is set to light mode, the toolbar remains black at all times. However, the company has confirmed that it is a software bug and will fix it in the next app update. “We have identified an issue in One UI 8 where the background color of the quick toolbar in the OneHand app is always applied in dark mode”, said a community moderator.
