The Galaxy A5x series has long been the backbone of Samsung’s mid-range smartphone lineup, offering solid performance and appealing designs at accessible prices. Now, the company is preparing the next addition to the series: the Galaxy A57. Successor to this year’s well-received Galaxy A56, the device has surfaced in the IMEI database, confirming that development is progressing smoothly.

Samsung’s Galaxy A57 surfaces online months before its official launch

The Galaxy A57 (5G) was recently spotted in the IMEI database under the model number SM-A576B/DS, confirming a dual-SIM variant. While the IMEI listing doesn’t reveal anything else, it confirms that development is well underway. Samsung is actively preparing for its next premium mid-range release, expected around March-April next year, possibly accompanied by the Galaxy A37.

That’s still a long way to go, so not much is known about the Galaxy A57. However, as usual, it should refine the strengths of the A56, with a new Exynos processor likely under the hood. The device is likely to run on Samsung’s unannounced Exynos 1680, paired with the XClipse 550 GPU. It should ship with up to 256GB of storage and up to 12GB of RAM.

Samsung may also upgrade the cameras, as it has been using the same setup for a while now. The Galaxy A56 and its predecessors have a 50MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP macro camera on the back. The latter, in particular, feels dated, though there’s plenty of room for improvement in the former two cameras as well.

The selfie shooter, meanwhile, received an upgrade this year. The Galaxy A57 is likely to keep the same 12MP unit as the A56. More details should surface in the coming weeks as Samsung ramps up the development of its next-gen premium mid-range smartphone.
