Google Photos may take photo editing to the next level by integrating Google’s viral Gemini AI-powered editing tool, Nano Banana. It has already become popular because of its ability to transform ordinary photos into eye-catching edits. It’s unclear when the company will make it available in the Photos app, but it’s definitely a useful addition.

Google Photos may integrate the Nano Banana tool within its Create Tab

Launched in August this year as part of the Gemini app, Nano Banana is an image generation and editing tool that opens up a whole wide world of possibilities. It lets you turn a single photo into countless new creations. On top of that, you can upload multiple photos to mix scenes or ideas. What makes it even more compelling is that it’s free to use, making it accessible to everyone. As for use cases, you can create hyper-realistic 3D figurines, stylized portraits, change backgrounds, and more.

Now, Google is reportedly bringing this modern image generation experience directly into Google Photos. According to Android Authority, version 7.47.0.810631069 of the app includes a new Create tool within the existing Create tab in the bottom navigation bar. This tab stores a bunch of creative tools, including Animation, Cinematic Photo, Collage, Highlight Video, Photo to Video, and Remix.

While Google Photos did not mention the Nano Banana name, the publication says the newly added Create tool can perform the same tasks as the viral AI editing tool. You will be able to change your appearance, replace backgrounds, blend multiple photos, and more. These are the same features that made Nano Banana so popular.

Note that the Create tab (dedicated space for editing tools) in the Google Photos app is currently limited to users in the US. It looks like Google is preparing to expand the tab with the Create tool (Nano Banana) to other regions as well. We will let you know when it becomes available globally.
