One UI 8.5 Should Borrow This Clever iOS 26 Home Screen Trick
The iPhone 17 series has been unveiled, and they’ll come with iOS 26 pre-installed. There’s a lot to talk about regarding iOS 26, which has so far received mixed reactions from both users and the press. However, what you can’t overlook are some small features that could turn out to be a nice bonus. One of these features is the ability to match the home screen icons to your iPhone or its case.
One UI 8.5 should bring iOS 26’s home screen icon feature to Galaxy phones
Sure, it doesn’t come without caveats. It requires a specialized case that the system recognizes. On iPhones, it works via the MagSafe technology, a feature not found on current Galaxy devices. However, Samsung does offer Flipsuit cases that use NFC to dynamically apply matching wallpapers. These cases come with swappable cards featuring matching live wallpapers.
Samsung could extend the feature to home screen icons, similar to how iOS 26 does with compatible MagSafe cases. Once the case is slapped on the back on the phone, the system detects the color and creates a custom color profile for your home screen. You can press and hold the Home Screen, choose Customize, and tap the new case icon to match icons to the case’s color.

MacRumors says that if you don’t see a colorful MagSafe ring that matches your case when you put it on your iPhone, the icon tinting feature probably won’t work. You can also change the icon colors to match your iPhone by tapping on the iPhone icon.
That’s one feature we’d love to see Samsung include when it debuts One UI 8.5 on the Galaxy S26 series. The next flagship lineup won’t launch before early next year, which means there are about four months before we can get our hands on the devices. That gives Samsung plenty of time to toy with this feature and add it to One UI 8.5.
To be honest, there’s hardly any complex tech here, and it wouldn’t take long for Samsung to implement it on Flipsuit cases if they really wanted to. There are also rumors of the S26 series offering built-in Qi2 magnets, so maybe we’ll get MagSafe compatibility too. People love customization, and iPhones have barely offered it for a long time. But in recent updates, starting with iOS 18, Apple has taken a more user-friendly approach. So why not give Galaxy users a neat feature too, Samsung?
