WhatsApp can now help you fix those awkward mitsakes… yep, just like this one. Meta says it’s rolling out a new feature in WhatsApp called Writing Help, which uses AI to tidy up your messages before you hit send.

The tool can fix grammar mistakes, smooth out clunky phrasing, and even tweak the tone of your reply. You’ll get three options to choose from: professional, funny, or supportive. So you can decide whether you want to sound like a serious coworker, a witty friend, or just someone being nice.

How to use WhatsApp’s new Writing Help feature?

Putting WhatsApp’s new Writing Help feature into action is actually pretty simple. Meta explains that when you start typing in any one-on-one or group chat, a small pencil icon shows up next to the emoji button. Tap it, and WhatsApp’s AI will instantly suggest a cleaner, more polished version of whatever you’ve written.

For now, Writing Help is rolling out only in English and just for users in the US and several other countries. Meta says support for more languages and regions will arrive later this year, which means the feature could soon reach millions of people around the world.

Of course, with any AI tool, there’s always the question of privacy. Meta insists you don’t need to worry here. Writing Help is powered by the company’s Private Processing system. This generates suggestions locally on your device without Meta or WhatsApp actually reading your messages. By default, the feature is turned off, so you’ll need to opt in before you can start using it.

This is a surprisingly useful move, especially since most phones don’t come with built-in AI smarts. Galaxy AI features, for example, aren’t available on all Galaxy devices, and budget phones rarely pack this kind of tech. That’s where WhatsApp can step in, using its own AI models to bring advanced writing assistance to a much wider audience.
