Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 get August 2025 Update Globally

Samsung is widely rolling out the August 2025 security update to its latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. The devices are receiving this month’s security patches in several global markets, including the US. It shouldn’t be long before the company updates all Fold 7 and Flip 7 units worldwide.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 make the jump to Samsung’s August security patch
Every month, Samsung rolls out new security updates to Galaxy smartphones and tablets. These so-called Security Maintenance Releases (SMR) contain fixes for various flaws across Android OS and Galaxy components. The August 2025 patch addresses 47 vulnerabilities, 18 of which are specific to Galaxy devices, with the remaining ones being Android OS issues.
Samsung has already rolled out these security fixes to several Galaxy devices. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 also received the August 2025 update in select markets last week. The company has now kicked off a global rollout, ensuring maximum security of its latest foldables.
Like other flagship models launched in 2024 and 2025, these foldables are eligible for seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security patches. They ship with Android 16-based One UI 8 and will receive feature updates up to Android 23. Likewise, security patches will arrive until sometime in 2032. We expect Samsung to deliver monthly patches for five years before dropping the devices to quarterly security fixes.
If you just purchased the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Flip 7, you can check for updates from the Settings app. Go to the Software update menu and tab Download and install. If an update shows up, download it and wait until the new firmware is installed — you can use the device during this process. You will be prompted to restart the phone to complete the installation. The device will reboot with the new security patch installed.
