A few days ago, Samsung quietly opened pre-orders for the Galaxy A17 5G in Ireland without any prior announcement. While it first appeared to be a premature listing, it turned out to be intentional. The phone remains available for purchase in the country, and Samsung has now officially unveiled it. The company recently confirmed the Galaxy A17 5G’s launch in Taiwan, with more markets expected to follow soon.

Galaxy A17 5G goes official after a series of leaks

In a press release, Samsung announced the launch of the Galaxy A17 5G in Taiwan, positioning it as a high-value mid-range phone. The device sports a slimmer, lighter body than its predecessor, while bringing key upgrades such as a 50MP main camera with OIS optical image stabilization, a 5,000mAh battery, and support for AI-powered tools, aimed at creators and everyday users alike.

The Galaxy A17 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7. Power comes from the Exynos 1330 octa-core processor paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, both with 128GB of storage and support for microSD expansion up to 2TB. The 50MP main camera is supported by a 5MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP macro shooter. You get a 13MP camera on the front.

Samsung has also leaned into AI features, with support for tools like Circle to Search for quick visual lookups and Gemini integration. The phone’s 5,000mAh battery supports 25W fast charging, while IP54 water and dust resistance ensures extra durability. The Galaxy A17 5G will be available in Black, Gray, and Blue, with sales beginning in late August 2025.

In Taiwan, Samsung has priced the phone at NT$7,490 (approx. $250) for the 6GB+128GB variant and NT$8,490 (approx. $283) for the 8GB RAM variant. The company hasn’t announced its launch in any other market, though the phone is available in some European countries via Samsung’s website or third-party retailers. In some markets, the company may include a 25W charger in the box.
