Samsung Quietly Ends Update Support for Three Mid-Range Galaxy Phones

Samsung remains the undisputed leader in Android software support, offering updates for up to eight years. Mid-range Galaxy devices receive up to six years of updates, while flagship models enjoy seven years of support. For select enterprise models, Samsung goes even further, providing an industry-leading eight years of regular updates. But even the best support policies have an end, and this month, Samsung has quietly retired three mid-range phones from its update schedule.

These three Galaxy phones will no longer receive updates

Earlier today, Samsung updated the list of Galaxy devices currently eligible for software updates. We noticed three missing phones on the list: Galaxy A22, Galaxy M32, and Galaxy F22. These three mid-range smartphones will no longer receive updates from Samsung, not even security patches. All of these devices were launched between June and July 2021, so they’ve completed the guaranteed four years of software support.

The 5G version of the Galaxy M32, which debuted in August 2021, is still eligible for updates. Samsung might end support for this model next month. The company retires a bunch of devices every month as they reach the end of their lives. If you own one of these devices, your phone will continue to function normally. However, you will no longer receive security patches, which can leave your phone vulnerable to newly discovered threats.

As such, upgrading to a newer Galaxy phone is highly recommended. Samsung’s 2025 lineup includes powerful mid-range and flagship options, all offering modern hardware and a fresh wave of AI-powered features, along with extended software support. As mentioned above, newer mid-range devices now get six years of updates, while flagships are eligible for regular updates for seven years.
