Samsung has officially confirmed what fans and industry watchers have speculated for months, if not years. The company is finally preparing to launch its long-rumored tri-fold smartphone and XR (Extended Reality) headset. These new devices will debut in the second half of 2025 as part of Samsung’s broader Galaxy ecosystem expansion.

Samsung embarks on a new era of foldables: the tri-fold device is coming

Samsung has led the foldable phone market with its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series, but the tri-fold form factor represents a bold leap forward. As the name implies, this device features two hinges and three folding sections, offering a tablet-sized screen in a compact, pocketable form. Though not officially confirmed, recent developments suggest it may be called the Galaxy Z TriFold.

While Samsung hasn’t revealed hardware details yet, leaks revealed that the device will sport a dual inward-folding design. This means one hinge will fold at a bigger curvature than the other. It may feature the company’s latest flexible display technology, ultra-thin glass improvements, and AI-powered software enhancements to make multitasking more fluid.

Samsung has also confirmed the impending launch of its first XR headset, which it developed in close collaboration with Google and Qualcomm on XR. Unfortunately, the company only said that these devices will go official before the end of 2025. We still do not have an exact launch date for either product.

That said, rumors hint at an October launch of the tri-fold. The XR headset could accompany it for a grand debut of two completely new form factors in Samsung’s expansive Galaxy ecosystem. The company says AI capabilities will remain integral to its future mobile innovations. We can’t wait to see what new AI experiences the upcoming tri-fold and XR headset offer. Exciting times are ahead for Galaxy fans worldwide.
