Samsung is keeping up its July 2025 update streak with a fresh software patch for its new slim flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge. The same update is also available for the Galaxy A15, a budget handset. The rollout is currently limited to select markets but it should reach more regions soon.
Galaxy S25 Edge and A15 grab Samsung’s July 2025 security update
The latest update for the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy A15 brings the July 2025 Android security patch. It addresses one critical and several dozen high-severity security issues in the Android OS and other system components across Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Some of these vulnerabilities affected Samsung Knox, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi passwords, and the Galaxy Watch interface.
As of this writing, the Galaxy S25 Edge is picking up the new security maintenance release (SMR) in South Korea, where users are getting a 531MB update with the firmware build number S937NKSS2AYF6. The Galaxy A15 is receiving the update in select Latin American countries, including Brazil. Its new build number is A155MUBS7CYF1.
Samsung shouldn’t take long to roll out these updates globally. Users will receive a notification when the update hits their Galaxy S25 Edge or Galaxy A15. Users can also manually check for updates from the Settings app (Software update > Download and install). Note that updates are released in batches and may ot be available for all eligible units simultaneously.
Both of these phones are eligible for Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 update. The company is currently testing the big OS upgrade, with a wide rollout expected to begin in August. The Galaxy S25 Edge should be one of the first models to receive it, though users with a Galaxy A15 may have to wait a little longer. One UI 8 is expected to reach all eligible devices worldwide before the end of 2025.
