Samsung has officially unveiled its 2025 foldable lineup at today’s Galaxy Unpacked event. The company debuted three exciting devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. While design and durability improvements are grabbing headlines, there’s also plenty to talk about when it comes to battery life and charging performance — some upgrades impress, others don’t.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 has the same battery but smarter efficiency

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 features a 4,400mAh battery, just like its predecessor. This may not impress many, but Samsung has made several under-the-hood optimizations to boost real-world performance. The 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, improved thermal management, and One UI 8’s smarter background task handling should help extend the battery life.

While Samsung deserves all the praise for maintaining the battery capacity while making the device substantially thinner — the Fold 7 is 4.2mm thick when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded — we’d have liked to see an upgrade in the charging speed. At 25W, it feels a bit too slow in 2025. 15% of wired charging is okay-ish, with Qi2 support enabled by compatible magnetic cases. You also get 4.5W reverse wireless charging for accessories like Galaxy Buds.

Samsung also made the Galaxy Z Flip 7 slimmer but still managed to increase the battery capacity from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh — the largest battery ever in a Flip device. Powered by the 3nm Exynos 2500, this phone should also deliver a solid battery life. The charging specs are similar to the Fold model. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE also keeps the same charging specs, but its battery capacity is 4,000mAh.
