One UI 8 to Introduce ‘Alert Center’ for Smarter Privacy and Security

Samsung is gearing up to introduce a powerful new feature in One UI 8 called Alert Center. It’s a centralized privacy and security dashboard that appears to go beyond what Android natively offers. Based on internal code discovered in an unreleased One UI 8 build, this feature could give Galaxy users deeper control over their data and better protection against security threats.
One UI 8’s Alert Center goes beyond Android’s native security and privacy dashboard
The Alert Center is expected to be located under Settings > Security and privacy alerts in One UI 8. It appears to be an improved version of Android’s existing Privacy Dashboard and Google Play Protect. The service has a broader scope and more actionable insights, offering real-time suggestions and warnings tailored to your device’s activity.
According to code strings discovered by Android Authority, Alert Center will offer two key functions. First, we have Privacy Alerts, which notify users when apps access sensitive permissions, such as location, microphone, camera, or contacts. Users can review and manage app permissions, helping prevent unwanted data access.
Additionally, we get Security Alerts, which include warnings about malware, outdated software, weak account security, or risky system settings. These could be malware apps found via Play Protect or Samsung App Protection, unpatched software vulnerabilities, suspicious activity on Google or Samsung accounts, disabled Find My Mobile settings, or reminders to set up biometrics for better device protection. Some alerts will feature action buttons like “Go to App Protection” or “Update Software,” allowing users to address issues immediately.
The Alert Center combines Samsung’s various privacy and security tools into one proactive dashboard. It doesn’t just monitor threats but also offers preventive advice, such as warning if over a year has passed since the last system update or if a trusted app recently changed its permission settings.
While Android already offers solid privacy features, Samsung’s Alert Center in One UI 8 may raise the bar by making these tools more transparent, unified, and easier to act on. The company will officially announce its Android 16-based update at next week’s Unpacked. One UI 8 will run out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7, and Flip FE.
