As the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8 series approaches, the lineup is quickly clearing the certification process from several regulatory bodies. Both the Galaxy Watch 8 and 8 Classic recently appeared on the TENAA and NBTC websites. These certifications reconfirm that the next-generation Galaxy Watch lineup is on track for an official launch alongside the upcoming foldable lineup next month.

Galaxy Watch 8 and 8 Classic pass TENAA and NBTC certifications

A few days ago, Samsung obtained certifications for its upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series from multiple agencies, including BIS, CMIIT, GCF, UL Demko, Bluetooth SIG, and FCC. The lineup has now cleared two major certification platforms in China and Thailand.

As spotted by 91Mobiles, China’s TENAA website has listed two new Galaxy Watch devices with numbers SM-L5050 and SM-L3350. Likewise, the NBTC platform has also listed both model numbers, revealing their marketing names — the former as the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and the latter as the Galaxy Watch 8. These listings confirm the imminent global launch of new watches, which is not surprising.

According to the TENAA listing, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (47mm) will have LTE (eSIM) and Bluetooth connectivity. It will pack a 435mAh rated battery (typical capacity could be 450mAh), slightly larger than the 425mAh unit found in the Watch 6 Classic. We can also see a render of the smartwatch in the listing that reveals a squircle-shaped dial with a leather strap, corroborating our exclusive renders.

Meanwhile, the vanilla Galaxy Watch 8 (44mm) will feature a 426mAh rated battery (typical capacity is 435mAh), larger than 425mAh in the Galaxy Watch 7. It sports a circular display and a silicone strap. Both models will support multiple connectivity options, including AGPS, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and WLAN.

Samsung recently confirmed that its upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series will ship with One UI 8 Watch. Based on Wear OS 6, the new wearable software update will bring several health-tracking features as well as improvements across the system. As of now, the company is gearing up to open a beta program for the Galaxy Watch 5 series or later released models.
