Galaxy Z Fold 7 May Be the Thinnest Foldable Yet, But With a Bigger Camera Bump

It’s no secret that Samsung will introduce its Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a slimmer profile while offering an ultra-level experience. However, incorporating a 200MP camera sensor in a slim body resulted in a chunky camera bump. A recently leaked case image reveals a substantial camera island on its back, though it should not be a concern, as you will get a pro-grade camera system.

Leaked case reveals Galaxy Z Fold 7’s large camera bump

A few days ago, the Korean firm teased the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s “smarter” triple-camera system. Thanks to leaks, we already know the upcoming book-style foldable device will sport a 200MP main camera. It should be the same 1/1.3-inch ISOCELL HP2 sensor found on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Edge. The other two units should include a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Coupled with AI enhancements and upgraded camera hardware, the new Fold should deliver amazing photography, but you may have to deal with a slightly bulkier camera module. Recently, a Reddit user posted an image of a Thinborne case for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, offering a clear look at its camera bump. It appears that to fit the larger 200MP camera, Samsung had to increase the size of the camera housing.

As a result, the big camera bump might be a necessary compromise for cutting-edge imaging hardware. The good news is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the thinnest Samsung foldable yet, so the overall design should still feel sleek. When unfolded, it will measure just 3.9mm in thickness (excluding display bumpers). The phone will have a thickness of 8.9mm in its folded state. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 measures 5.6mm when unfolded and 12.1mm when folded.
