Samsung took us by surprise today as it announced the One UI 8 Watch. In what seems to be a sneak peek at upcoming features, the company also mentioned that the One UI 8 Watch beta will begin rolling out before the end of this month. It will be available for a range of Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Watch 5 series and later.

One UI 8 Watch brings many new features

As with any One UI Watch update, the One UI 8 Watch will come packed with a bunch of new features. We can also expect the stable version to see the light of day alongside the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series next month. Speaking of new features, One UI 8 Watch will introduce handy health tools such as the Antioxidant Index, Bedtime Guidance, Running Coach, and Vascular Load. Let’s talk about each of them.

Antioxidant Index

Healthy aging is a key part of overall wellness, but habits like smoking, stress, poor sleep, and UV exposure can speed it up by increasing cell-damaging free radicals.

Antioxidants, which are found in colorful fruits and vegetables, help neutralize these effects. You’ll soon find Antioxidant Index, which uses a light-based BioActive Sensor to measure carotenoid levels in just five seconds.

Bedtime Guidance

A good night’s sleep brings instant health benefits and encourages lasting healthy habits, starting with a consistent bedtime. Samsung is enhancing sleep technology with tools like sleep coaching, environment optimization, and sleep apnea detection.

The Bedtime Guidance feature recommends ideal bedtimes based on users’ habits and recent sleep data. By analyzing circadian rhythm and sleep pressure, it promotes next-day alertness and recovery from irregular schedules.

Running Coach

Running is widely accessible, and Samsung supports runners with tools that promote safe, goal-driven training. The Running Coach offers real-time guidance and injury-preventive routines, perfect for beginners.

After a 12-minute run, users receive a performance score and tailored training plan for races from 5K to full marathon. In case that sounds familiar, yes, Samsung is hosting an event for runners on July 13 in New York.

Vascular Load

With One UI 8 Watch, the Galaxy Watch will measure vascular load to assess cardiovascular well-being. Normally, vascular stress takes a nosedive at night, but abnormal changes could be a red flag for health concerns. By wearing the watch during sleep, users get personalized insights into their vascular load.

This feature also takes lifestyle factors like exercise and stress into account, helping users make informed choices, build healthy routines, and support long-term heart health.

These are just a few of the health features coming with the upcoming One UI 8 Watch. Of course, this isn’t the full picture. Based on what we’ve seen so far, you can expect a major overhaul along with some nifty new tricks up its sleeve.
