Samsung Expands Galaxy S25 FE Firmware Testing in More Regions

So far, Samsung has launched the Galaxy S25 trio along with the Galaxy S25 Edge (hands-on). What’s left in the pipeline is the Galaxy S25 FE, essentially a more affordable Fan Edition of the flagship series. Although the release is still a few months away, Samsung has already begun testing firmware for the Galaxy S25 FE in its home country.

Galaxy S25 FE enters firmware testing stage in South Korea

The Galaxy S25 FE is no secret. Last month, it appeared on Geekbench with an Exynos 2400 processor and Android 16. The model number SM-S731U confirms it will launch in the US, and Samsung has started firmware testing for this variant. Firmware testing has also begun in South Korea, under model number SM-S731K, according to Korean community forum.

Fan Edition or FE phones generally have a strong fanbase and remain a popular choice, especially among those who want flagship-level features without the flagship price tag. While there’s no official word on the exact launch date, it’s likely to happen either toward the end of Q3 or early Q4.

The Galaxy S25 FE may face stiff competition from the Galaxy A56, as both devices might launch in the US around the same time. If Samsung doesn’t release the Galaxy Z Flip FE next month, chances are it will launch alongside the Galaxy S25 FE.

As for leaks so far, the Galaxy S25 FE might feature a 12MP front camera. If that holds true, all Galaxy S25 models will share the same front-facing camera. On the back, the phone might include an 8MP telephoto lens, a 50MP primary sensor, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. It will most likely run Android 16-based One UI 8 right out of the box.
