June 2025 Security Update Rolls Out to Galaxy S21 FE and A26

Samsung has begun pushing the June 2025 security update to more Galaxy devices. After the Galaxy S25 series — including the S25 Edge — and the Galaxy A56, the latest security patch is rolling out to the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy A26. It should soon reach additional models.
Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy A26 get Samsung’s June security update
The Galaxy S21 FE, one of Samsung’s most popular Fan Edition models, is now receiving the June 2025 security update. We can confirm the availability of this month’s security maintenance release (SMR) for the phone’s Exynos variant. The update is rolling out in Asia, carrying the firmware build number G990EXXSFGYF1 with an OTA (over the air) file size of 300MB. The Snapdragon-powered S21 FE should receive this update soon.
Samsung has also started rolling out the June 2025 update to the Galaxy A26, a mid-range phone launched alongside the Galaxy A56. The update is live in Europe with the build version A266BXXU3AYE6. It should reach users in other regions in the coming days. The Galaxy A36, which debuted on the same day, is also expected to receive the June SMR later this month.
The June 2025 security update for Samsung’s Android-powered smartphones and tablets contains over 60 vulnerability patches of varying severity. Users should install the new release as soon as it becomes available for their devices. Besides security upgrades, Samsung notes improvements to system performance and reliability. To manually check for the update, head to Settings > Software Update > Download and install.
It’s worth noting that the Galaxy A36 and A56 support seamless updates, allowing background installation with no major interruptions. However, the Galaxy S21 FE and A26 lack seamless update support, meaning users must wait for the update process to complete before resuming normal use. Going forward, Samsung is expected to offer this feature across all mid-range and flagship smartphones.
