Galaxy S25 Ultra Titanium Frame Stops Shrapnel, Saves Ukrainian Soldier

In a user review spotted by Ukrainian tech news outlet Mezha, a soldier shared how his Galaxy S25 Ultra (review) saved his life. He posted the story in a review on Samsung’s Ukrainian website. During a Russian artillery strike, a large metal fragment hit his phone, piercing the screen. However, the shrapnel did not penetrate further because the phone’s titanium frame stopped it cold.

The soldier included a photo showing serious damage to the phone’s top-left corner, which houses the processor and motherboard, both of which likely took a hit. Still, the titanium body appeared to absorb enough of the impact to make a real difference. He added that he had only owned the phone for three weeks before the incident but was grateful it was there when it mattered most.

Samsung Ukraine responded directly to the post, offering to repair the phone free of charge. In a statement to local media, the company thanked the soldier for his service and confirmed the damaged device was already at a service center. “We will repair his device free of charge as a token of our gratitude for his service and trust in the Samsung brand,” a spokesperson said.

In fact, Samsung phones have previously dodged bullets as well. In 2022, a Galaxy S20 Ultra saved a Ukrainian soldier. This goes to show that while these phones are not armor, sometimes they come remarkably close.
