After Galaxy S24, Galaxy S25 Receives Mysterious 1GB May Update (U: Camera Improvements)

Update 06/02 3:03 PM EST: The second May update for the Galaxy S25 series brings a massive camera improvement, as confirmed by Alfatürk on X.
A few days ago, Samsung rolled out a massive new update to the Galaxy S24 series in Europe, weighing in at over 1GB. Despite its size, the update came with a vague changelog mentioning only improvements to “the usability of device operations.” Now, a similar large-scale update is rolling out to the Galaxy S25 series in the region.
The Galaxy S25 series also gets a second May update with a large file size
The said update for the Galaxy S24 series didn’t even include a newer security patch, with the devices remaining on the May release. The same goes for the Galaxy S25 trio, as the latest software release doesn’t introduce the June patch. The update weighs over 1.2GB for the Ultra model and carries the exact same changelog: The usability of device operations has been improved.<
Given the hefty size of the update, there’s likely more happening under the hood — possibly laying the groundwork for upcoming features or future One UI 8 stability improvements. We speculated something similar for the S24 series, The lack of a new security patch further suggests bigger changes behind the scenes.
That said, Samsung hasn’t yet rolled out this mysterious update to the Galaxy S24 and S25 lineups outside Europe. Maybe it’s a regional release pushing software changes to comply with the local laws. That’s certainly a possibility, though we have no official confirmation. We will let you know when we have more information.
The second May update for the Galaxy S25 Ultra in Europe comes with the firmware build number S938BXXU3AYE7. Note that it is only available for users on One UI 7, not those who installed One UI 8 beta. The beta program is currently available for the S25 lineup in the US, Korea, Germany, and the UK. It should expand to India, China, and Poland later this month.
