Samsung Brings Auracast Experience to Mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Samsung has teamed up with hearing-aid provider GN to showcase the capabilities of Auracast technology at an event at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on May 16 to mark Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). The company will let attendees wear Galaxy Buds 3 Pro or GN hearing aids, and then it will transmit a single audio source to broadcast to multiple receivers simultaneously.

Seamless audio streaming to Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and GN hearing aids

Earlier this month, the company organized a pilot event to test out the Auracast capabilities with a small group of people. This new technology reduces background noise to enhance the clarity of audio when Auracast microphones and transmitters broadcast audio directly into participants’ Galaxy Buds 3 Pro or GN hearing aids.

“The Auracast experience with the tour guide was amazing,” said one participant. “Ordinarily I wouldn’t be able to join in with the tour because I would be unable to hear properly, but today it was completely different. This technology allowed me to hear everything so clearly so I didn’t miss a word.”

Auracast is a feature of LE Audio that lets you broadcast from a compatible audio source to multiple supported audio receivers such as earbuds and hearing aids. It’s like turning your phone into a mini radio station. Speaking of the LE Audio, it is a new Bluetooth wireless standard from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group. It allows broadcasting devices to transmit audio more efficiently and with better quality.

Auracast enables simultaneous audio streaming to multiple devices, making it easy to share audio across earbuds or hearing aids. It also reduces background noise as it broadcasts audio directly into your ears, providing a clearer sound experience. On top of that, Auracast supports personalized sound settings, allowing you to adjust audio according to your preferences.

Samsung has been expanding LE Audio support for smartphones and hearing aids. It has introduced 360 Audio Recording and adopted Auracast through the Buds 2 Pro software update. The company says that the Auracast Transmitter works on Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets running One UI 6.1 or later, as well as on select TV models. On the receiving end, Auracast Receiver supported devices include Galaxy Buds 3, Buds 3 Pro, and Buds 2 Pro.
