Samsung’s One UI 7 update introduced Log video (logarithmic profile) support to recent Galaxy flagships. Currently limited to rear cameras, this pro-grade feature is expected to soon extend to the front camera. The latest internal One UI 8 beta build adds Log video recording to the selfie shooter. A Samsung community moderator has now officially confirmed this impending expansion.
Samsung confirms Log video support for selfie cameras
A Log profile gives creators more flexibility during post-production of videos. These videos offer a higher amount of detail and dynamic range compared to regular (neutral) videos. While colors may look bland in the raw footage, the videos come to life after editing. This feature isn’t much useful to regular users, but for professional videographers, it’s a great camera tool to have on their phones.
After adding support for Log video to Galaxy flagships with One UI 7, Samsung is now preparing to extend the feature to the selfie camera with One UI 8. A Korean Samsung Community moderator recently revealed the plans, though One UI 8 leaks have already confirmed that. Alongside the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and S24 series should get this upgrade.
Interestingly, there is some chatter about Log support for selfie cameras debuting with the June update rather than One UI 8, and it makes sense. While the company may release One UI 8 beta programs for the Galaxy S25 series soon, the beta update won’t be available globally. Rolling out the feature globally with the June security update gives more users access to Log video in the selfie camera.
Whether Samsung chooses to deliver this update early or reserves it for the big Android 16 rollout, the front camera Log video feature will mark a meaningful upgrade for mobile content creators. Stay tuned as the Korean firm prepares to reveal more details in the coming weeks.
