Samsung is gearing up for the next major software leap with One UI 8, based on Android 16. While we do not have an official confirmation yet, the company could soon release a beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. It recently pushed a fresh internal beta build for the S25 Ultra, signaling that the public launch is inching closer.
New One UI 8 internal beta build surfaces ahead of public release
The latest One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S25 Ultra carries the build version ZYEJ. It appears to be a 877MB update over the previous internal build, suggesting new features and improvements alongside system stability updates. One notable tweak discovered in this version is a new animation for the Now Bar Music Player, part of Samsung’s ongoing effort to polish the One UI experience.
Additionally, the ZYEJ build introduces Log video support for the front camera. This feature was expected to arrive with One UI 8, and we now have confirmation. The first beta release for the Galaxy S25 series should contain both of these changes. Earlier leaks have already revealed many other enhancements coming to Galaxy devices with the Android 16 update.
While the current builds are for internal testing, rumors suggest the One UI 8 public beta program for the Galaxy S25 lineup could begin as early as next week. Even with a delay, a June release looks highly likely. This would give Samsung ample time to gather feedback and fix bugs before launching the stable version in July. One UI 8 should ship out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
The new foldables may go official in the first half of July, with the launch event expected in New York. Samsung should roll out One UI 8 to older models following the market release of these devices. If you’re a Galaxy S25 user interested in trying out One UI 8 early, stay tuned to us for Samsung’s beta program announcement in the coming weeks.
