As you know, the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is the slimmest Galaxy S series phone ever, measuring just 5.8mm thick. However, the company had to go through many challenges to achieve such a sleek profile. Today, it has shared the story and innovation behind the Galaxy S25 Edge’s design.
Samsung’s story of Galaxy S25 Edge innovation
Samsung says that it removed all unnecessary elements from the Galaxy S25 Edge to represent the most essential form of a smartphone. The company focused on the thoughtful balance of color, material, and finish (CMF) so that the thickness of the phone is easily noticeable. It used premium titanium for the side frame to further cut down on thickness as well as to maintain the design identity of the Ultra model in the lineup.
When it comes to color palette, the company chose very carefully so that it can highlight the unique shape of the Galaxy S25 Edge and match the luminous shade concept of the Galaxy S25 series. The phone is available in three shades: Titanium Silver, Titanium Icyblue, and Titanium Jetblack.
Samsung adopted a “one-mass” design, meaning the frame and back cover look like one smooth piece. The phone’s thinner design gives a seamless look, making it appear even slimmer. On top of that, the company not only focuses on its sleek design but also wants to deliver lasting satisfaction through balance and comfort.
“The Galaxy S25 Edge offers a natural one-hand grip that reduces wrist strain during extended use, and the thin bezel allows for a more immersive viewing experience,” says Jiyoung Lee from the Product Design Team. “The front is flat while the back has a subtle curve — shaped to feel comfortable in the hand.”
Challenges during the integration of a powerful camera
One of the major challenges for the company was fitting both high performance and premium craftsmanship into a 5.8mm frame. Samsung says it applies the same CMF from the back glass to the camera bump to implement a powerful 200MP camera into the thinner body. On top of that, it adopts the linear camera layout, which is an integral element of the Galaxy identity to tie all the camera units together.
Basically, the Galaxy S25 Edge is more than just a slim smartphone, offering a perfect combination of modern design and pro-level performance. The phone is currently available for pre-order globally, with open sale starting later this month.
