A few days ago, a report suggested that Samsung could begin One UI 8 beta testing in the third week of May. That claim has now been reinforced by the same source, who confirms that the beta program is indeed on track for a May launch. The first One UI 8 beta build for the Galaxy S25 series could roll out over the next few days.
One UI 8 Beta begins in May, but with a catch
Based on Android 16, One UI 8 is Samsung’s next major update for Galaxy devices. Unlike One UI 7, the new version focuses on functional improvements rather than reinventing the wheel. Leaks have already revealed plenty about this update, with recent developments pointing to a nearing public beta release.
The folks over at SamMobile now claim that Samsung is all geared up to kick off the One UI 8 beta program in the third week of May. However, unlike previous beta rollouts, this one won’t be available broadly at launch. Initial testing will likely be limited to select devices and regions, with a more widespread release expected by June.
By the looks of it, Samsung will release One UI 8 beta for the Galaxy S25 series in Korea, and maybe the US, later this month. Users in other markets, like Europe and India, may get the beta update in June. The beta build may also expand to additional devices next month. We have already seen Samsung testing the update internally for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy S23, and other models.
The stable version may arrive in July, running out of the box on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. Samsung could roll out the stable One UI 8 update to older models in August or September. Expect more details to emerge soon as the company prepares for the first beta release.
