Samsung’s long-rumored Galaxy Z Flip FE may be closer to launch than previously expected. While earlier reports suggested the affordable foldable won’t go official alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July, a new development suggests otherwise. It hints at a potential shift in the launch timeline.
Galaxy Z Flip FE could make a surprise appearance at the July Unpacked
According to a fresh industry report, the Galaxy Z Flip FE has now cleared all required internal testing and is ready for production. This is a significant milestone, as Samsung typically begins mass production of devices around two months before their official debut. With the Fold 7 and Flip 7 already in production for a July unveiling, this latest update strongly hints that the Flip FE could join them at the upcoming Unpacked.
While the source doesn’t say Samsung has begun its mass production, it is seemingly done with all the development work and testing. This means there’s no reason why it couldn’t unveil the Galaxy Z Flip FE in July alongside the regular models. The next Galaxy Unpacked may take place in New York in the first half of July, possibly on July 9.
Exynos, Snapdragon, or Dimensity — what processor does this Fan Edition foldable use?
Samsung may price the Fan Edition model under $800 to offer a more accessible entry point into its foldable lineup. Leaks suggest the Galaxy Z Flip FE will be a rebadged Flip 6 with a new processor. However, there’s some confusion about the chipset powering the phone. It has been linked with Samsung’s unreleased Exynos 2500, as well as last year’s Exynos 24oo and 2400e.
Moreover, there have been reports of it potentially using a yet non-existent Exynos 2500e processor. Some reports also hinted at Samsung potentially shipping it with a Snapdragon chipset, while some other developments hint at the company using a MediaTek Dimensity chip. Things should get clearer in the coming weeks, as Samsung gears up to launch new foldables.
