Samsung Confident in Galaxy S25 Edge Success with Bold Production Target

Samsung seemingly expects the Galaxy S25 Edge to perform well in the market. It plans to produce more than 1.3 million S25 Edge phones across its global manufacturing hubs before the end of June. That’s a sizeable figure for the initial production run of a completely new product.

Samsung’s planned early production volume for the Galaxy S25 Edge is quite optimistic

The Galaxy S25 Edge goes official in just a few hours. However, it’s unclear if it will be immediately available for purchase. Rumors suggest Samsung will first release the new slim flagship in Korea and select other markets before a global release late in May. We’ll get an official confirmation soon.

Meanwhile, the Korean media says Samsung’s initial production volume for the Galaxy S25 Edge will be over 1.3 million units. The company will manufacture this many units within the second quarter, across its multiple global sites. That’s quite an optimistic figure for a phone that aims to create a new market segment for flagship smartphones.

Unlike the regular Galaxy S25 models, the S25 Edge’s USP is its thin design. Rumored to measure just 5.8mm in thickness, this is the slimmest Samsung smartphone yet. Unsurprisingly, it comes at a cost, literally and figuratively. The phone doesn’t have a zoom camera and features a relatively small battery (3,900mAh).

Despite this, we might be looking at an entry price of over $1,100, making it pricier than the Galaxy S25+. Samsung tries to justify the price tag with a flagship display, a 200MP main camera, and the industry’s next processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite “for Galaxy,” which also powers other S25 models.

That said, you get it all and a lot more with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which costs just $200 more. The Galaxy S25 Edge has an edge in thickness (Ultra is 8.2mm thick) and nothing else. Time will tell whether the fourth S25 model proves to be a hit or a failed experiment from Samsung. Stay tuned for the official launch tomorrow — the launch event is scheduled for May 12 at 8 p.m. EDT or May 13 at 9 a.m. KST.
