The Wait for One UI 8 Beta Might Be Shorter Than You Thought

by | May 7, 2025 | News, One UI

Samsung began rolling out the stable One UI 7 update over a month ago. It has since reached all flagship models across several regions, with some mid-range devices expected to follow soon. At the same time, Samsung is already preparing for the next chapter with One UI 8. The One UI 8 beta is currently in development and could show up ahead of official release.

One UI 8 beta could be coming next month

For obvious reasons, the spotlight is now shifting from One UI 7 to One UI 8. Now that we have a clearer idea of when One UI 8 will be released, attention is naturally turning to the beta program.

One UI 8 Beta Program Gerwin

A banner for the One UI 8 beta program was recently spotted by Gerwin, hinting that Samsung is gearing up to kick things off soon. Tipster Tarun Vats suggests the beta could launch around mid-June. That may seem early for speculation, but Tarun has a solid track record, and the early banner only fuels the anticipation.

Whenever it rolls out, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to be the first to receive the update. That said, there’s a chance Samsung may delay the update slightly for other devices. In case you missed it, Samsung is skipping One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1, jumping directly to One UI 8.

As for what to expect, One UI 8 may not be as significant of an update as One UI 7, but it will bring meaningful enhancements to features introduced in the previous version. For instance, the Now Bar is expected to integrate support for Android 16’s Live Notifications API, enabling broader app compatibility.

We’ll get the full picture at the July Unpacked event. The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 may launch running Android 16-based One UI 8.0. That should answer many of our questions.
