Tipster Says New Charging Tech for Galaxy Z Fold 7 — Finally a 45W Upgrade?

by | May 7, 2025 | Galaxy Z, News

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one of Samsung’s most anticipated devices of 2025. While much of the buzz has centered around its sleek, thinner profile, there are a few more areas that deserve attention. The battery life is one of those, as Samsung is keeping the battery capacity unchanged at 4,400mAh. But what about the charging speed? We could be in for some improvements there.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 could bring charging upgrades

For years, Samsung’s foldables have lagged behind in the charging department, sticking to a modest 25W wired charging. With the Galaxy Z Fold 7, early rumors hinted at a possible jump to 45W fast charging. Unfortunately, more recent certification listings and insider information suggest Samsung may once again be sticking with 25W, dashing hopes for faster top-ups.

That said, there’s still reason to be cautiously optimistic. Noted leaker Ice Universe recently teased that the Fold 7 will feature “new battery and charging technology.” While vague, this could hint at a move beyond traditional specs — perhaps more efficient charging circuitry, better heat management, or even battery cell upgrades that support higher wattages under certain conditions.

We don’t know what he actually means. As mentioned above, the battery capacity remains unchanged at 4,400mAh, even as the Flip 7 adds 300mAh to take the total capacity to 4,300mAh. With the Fold 7 now expected to feature larger displays (an 8.2-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen), users are likely to push the battery harder than ever.

While software optimization and component efficiency could help mitigate battery drain, that’s not the ideal solution. For power users and multitaskers, nothing beats sheer charging speed and a large battery. Until the official announcement sometime in July, we won’t know for sure whether Samsung is sticking to the status quo or finally making the leap to faster charging.
