One UI 8 Watch Firmware Leak Reveals Updated Icons, Gemini AI

by | May 6, 2025 | Galaxy Watch, News

It seems the rumors were true, after all. Not official yet, but Samsung could skip the One UI 6.5 Watch and 7 Watch updates, and jump straight to the One UI 8 Watch. For sure, it will release alongside the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, set to debut during the July Unpacked event.

One UI 8 Watch updated icons leak in all their glory

A few weeks before the official unveiling, the One UI 8 Watch firmware has leaked out in the wild. It has revealed all the interesting tidbits, including the upcoming audio files. It also includes an updated Over the Horizon music. You can check out all the tunes in action here. Apart from that, the leaked One UI 8 Watch firmware also reveals the updated icons.

Tipster @DevOfIpos has shared at least 17 updated app icons coming to One UI 8 Watch. These draw inspiration from One UI 7’s updated app icons. If you’re using One UI 7, you might understand the design consistency Samsung is going for. These are flat, colorful, and minimalist with a polished edge. The update doesn’t reinvent the wheel. But you’ll notice it gives the user interface a more cohesive look that matches Samsung’s current design language.

There’s also a confirmation from the tipster that Gemini AI is finally coming to smartwatches as well. That means Google Assistant is all ready to retire on Galaxy watches. It comes as no surprise, however. Google had previously confirmed the development, and everything’s on track. Gemini AI is much better with deeper contextual awareness, smarter responses, and tighter integration across apps and devices.

Now that the official release isn’t much away, we’ll know all the details shortly. Samsung’s summer Unpacked is shaping up to be promising. The company may take the wraps off the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. The Classic suffix suggests that rotating bezel is making a comeback, yeah!
