Samsung is preparing to launch its first-ever slim flagship smartphone. The device looks all set to debut on May 13, but there’s still some confusion surrounding its name. While early leaks referred to it as the Galaxy S25 Slim, Samsung itself called it the S25 Edge during its January Unpacked event. Yet, the company’s official website continues to use the Slim branding, leaving fans puzzled. So, what’s going on? Let’s break it down.

Samsung launches a new Galaxy S25 model soon — is it Slim or Edge?
At a rumored thickness of just 5.8mm, the device in question is incredibly slim. When we first heard that it would be called the Galaxy S25 Slim, it sounded like a fitting name. However, Samsung surprised everyone with a teaser for the Galaxy S25 Edge in January. At a glance, it looked like a different phone — original rumors suggested three rear cameras, but this one has only two — but not to be.
The Galaxy S25 Edge turned out to be the same phone we previously knew as S25 Slim. The Edge branding felt slightly off, as it is typically associated with phones featuring curved edges, but still fairly reasonable. Samsung must have considered everything before going ahead with this name. However, just when it looked like the device was arriving as the Galaxy S25 Edge, the company mentioned S25 Slim on its website.
Noted leaker Evan Blass has now chipped in with some information. According to Blass, the upcoming slim flagship from Samsung will debut as the Galaxy S25 Edge. However, the internal codename for the phone is “Paradigm Slim,” which basically means a slimmer S25 — Paradigm is the codename for the Galaxy S25 series. It reflects the bold innovations these flagships bring.
Long story short, the phone arriving on May 13 should be called the Galaxy S25 Edge. Samsung likely switched from the Slim branding somewhere along the lines during the development stage, but some people handling its websites didn’t get the memo. Name confusion aside, the device is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the S25 lineup because, in the end, it’s what the phone delivers that truly matters, not its name.
