We recently showed off a huge overhaul of Samsung Internet, with new blurry elements and a fancy new homepage. We found this inside a hidden debug menu, but there are many other settings to tweak there, including those not released yet. In fact, Samsung is working on a huge addition to Galaxy AI’s summarisation features for One UI 8.0. Let’s take a look at the brand new video summarisation feature.
What is this mysterious new feature?
The feature in question is in fact a new AI Video summarisation tool. This analyses the video, detecting speech, visuals and captions. It then uses a multi modal AI model to summarise the key points of that video, which comes neatly packaged to the user in a neatly organised list.
Similar features already exist in other browsers, and even on YouTube itself. But having this feature, among the rest of the Galaxy AI suite, right within your browser is handy. Galaxy S25 devices also process this data on device, which saves you on your data plan and flexes the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s muscles. You can use this for YouTube videos, but also for other videos on any website. Without the new video summarisation tool, Samsung Internet will merely summarize the title and description of a given YouTube video.
In our testing, we found the generated video summary to be incredibly accurate. Testing the tool on our own video tour of the new Samsung Internet GUI, the feature provides a concise summary of all points discussed in our video. Unfortunately, the ‘Detailed’ option for summaries in Galaxy AI does not yet work with the current video tool. You will need to stick to the standard summary to receive accurate video roundups. For a full tutorial on how to enable the new video summarisation tool, check out our video guide below.
We expect this feature to roll out with the upcoming One UI 8 update, which has leaked many times over at this point. The aforementioned Internet redesign is one of them, among a redesign to the Weather app, elements of the Gallery app, and more. Stay tuned for more updates as they hit.
