If you already use Samsung’s Nearby Device Scanning, you know how handy it is for helping your Galaxy device quickly find and connect to nearby accessories and devices. Now, it’s about to get even better. Samsung is rolling out Nearby Device Scanning version 11.1.19.5, which we recently spotted.
Nearby Device Scanning rolling support for DJI Gimbal
In the latest update, Samsung has added support for DJI gimbals in the Nearby Device Scanning. This means users can now easily discover and connect to compatible DJI stabilizers directly from their phones. While it’s a relatively small update, it’s a meaningful one for filmmakers, vloggers, and casual users who rely on DJI’s popular handheld gimbals, such as the OM series. Yes, they can now benefit from faster setup times on Galaxy devices.
The update description highlights that the Nearby Device Scanning now supports DJI gimbal, text-to-speech in Galaxy Buds battery popup, and some other bug fixes. While Samsung didn’t list specific models supported, it’s safe to assume popular options like the DJI OM 4, OM 5, Osmo Mobile 6, as well as Osmo Mobile 7 will be among them.
For what it’s worth, this is a significant move by Samsung, especially for creatives. Samsung is making Galaxy phones more ecosystem-friendly, not just with its own products but also with third-party gear. DJI has a strong reputation among creators, so this added convenience makes practical sense.
The Nearby Device Scanning is pre-installed on most Galaxy phones and updates automatically through the Galaxy Store. If you don’t have it or disabled it earlier, you can easily reinstall it from Galaxy Store. On your Galaxy phone, you can head to Galaxy Store > Menu icon on the bottom right > Updates.
