Samsung is gearing up to expand its foldable lineup with a more budget-friendly option this year. The device is widely rumored to be called the Galaxy Z Flip FE. However, we recently discovered a telecom listing that hints at a different branding for the upcoming affordable foldable: Galaxy Z Flip Xe.
Galaxy Z Flip Xe, not “FE”, could be the name for Samsung’s first affordable foldable
We have long known that Samsung’s upcoming entry-level foldable bears the model number SM-F761. The company has slightly adjusted its model numbering convention this year for convenience. Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was SM-F956, and the Flip 6 was SM-F741. This year, the Fold 7 is SM-F966 and the Flip 7 is SM-F766, allowing the affordable Flip model (SM-F761) to sit under the Flip 7.
However, Samsung seems to be unsure about the marketing name for the affordable model. While the Galaxy Z Flip FE branding fits well (its Fan Edition lineup is known for high-end features at lower prices), a telecom listing suggests otherwise. It mentions the product name as “Galaxy Z Flip Xe” for the Samsung device carrying the model number SM-F761.
It’s unclear if that’s the official name or just a placeholder until the launch, or may be a typographical error. Things should get clearer in the coming weeks as Samsung prepares for its launch. In fact, there are contrasting reports about the Galaxy Z Flip FE/Xe’s launch timeline. Some suggest it could go official alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in early July, while others hint at a September/October launch.
We are also awaiting confirmation on Samsung’s processor choice for the phone. The Exynos 2400, Exynos 2400e, and Exynos 2500 have all been associated with the upcoming affordable foldable. It looks unlikely to get a Snapdragon processor, though. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
