It looks like some Galaxy users have been experiencing a weird home screen folder bug. This bug pops up when the user deletes all the apps inside a folder at once. While most of the apps disappear as expected, the last app in the folder sometimes remains visible on the screen, leaving users frustrated. Thankfully, Samsung is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.
Samsung acknowledges the home screen folder bug
Recently, someone affected took to the Samsung Korean Community forum to report the bug. The user said, “When I select all the apps in a folder and delete them, the last item does not disappear and remains on the app drawer screen.” The user suspected that it could be related to Good Lock’s Home Up feature, which they used to customize the home screen layout. However, the good news is that you can quickly fix the issue by just rebooting the device.
In response to the user’s query, a moderator from the Good Lock support team said the development team is currently working on fixing the issue. The moderator promised to fix the issue through a software update. Unfortunately, they did not disclose the exact date for the fix, saying that the “S/W update schedule is subject to change depending on various circumstances.”
So, until Samsung releases the fix for the issue, simply restart the phone to remove the leftover app icon from the home screen. While the app deletion bug on the home screen may be annoying, it’s good to know that a fix is on the way.
As of now, the Korean firm is rolling out the April 2025 security update for a bunch of eligible Galaxy devices. So, the company might bundle the fixes for this bug with security updates. If the latest update is available for you, you should download it as soon as possible by heading over to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
