Samsung Revives 11-Inch Galaxy Tab for S11 Series, But Skips Plus Model?

by | Apr 23, 2025 | Galaxy Tab, News

Samsung is making some surprising moves in its Galaxy Tab lineup. After skipping the base model in the Tab S10 series and only releasing the Tab S10+ and S10 Ultra, the company now seems to be adjusting course again with the upcoming Tab S11 series. The 11-inch base model may return this year, while the Plus model appears to be gone.

Return of the 11-Inch flagship Samsung tablet

According to recent leaks and reports, Samsung is bringing back the standard 11-inch model with the Galaxy Tab S11 series. The company is developing it with the codename GTS11, which is pretty obvious. This is significant because the Tab S10 series lacked a base model entirely, a move that left fans of the more compact flagship form factor without an option. The Tab S10+ features a 12.4-inch screen.

The return of the 11-inch variant signals Samsung’s intention to once again cater to users who prefer a more portable tablet without sacrificing top-tier specs. Well, the specs are still under wraps, but early rumors suggest the company will once again use a MediaTek processor, likely the Dimensity 9400. It switched to MediaTek with the Tab S10 series last year. It used Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips in the Tab S9 series.

Interestingly, while the 11-inch base model seems confirmed, there is currently no solid evidence that a Galaxy Tab S11+ is in the pipeline. Samsung does have a Tab S11 Ultra (GTS11U) in development, but nothing is available about a Plus model. It’s unclear if the firm is changing its strategy again or if it will launch a third flagship tablet this year.

The Galaxy Tab S11 series may arrive earlier than usual

For so long, Samsung maintained a 1.5-year update cycle for its flagship tablets. It broke the cycle last year when it released the Galaxy Tab S10 series in September, following the Tab S9 launch in July 2023. As per its usual pattern, the Tab S10 series should have arrived alongside the Galaxy S25 in January this year. It looks like that was a thoughtful decision to switch to a yearly update cycle.

Rumors suggest the Galaxy Tab S11 series will arrive later this year, likely around September or October. Leaks should start piling up in the coming months, revealing what Samsung has in store for its next-gen flagship tablets. Meanwhile, if you plan to buy Samsung’s latest flagship offering, the Galaxy Tab S10+ starts at $899, and the Ultra model at $1,049 (you save up to $150).
