Instagram wants to help its users who are passionate about making videos on their phones by providing the best possible tools. Meta, the company behind Instagram, recently launched its own standalone video editing app called “Edits”. Initially announced in January this year, Edits is now available globally for all Android and iOS users.
Instagram’s Edits app integrates several video creation tools
It looks like Edits is Meta’s answer to ByteDance’s CapCut, a short-form video editing app. The Edits app packs all the possible tools required for video creation in one place. It helps creators to turn their ideas into videos directly from their mobile devices, without needing to pass the clips through multiple tools or apps.
In its blog post, Instagram wrote, “Today, we’re launching Edits – a new video creation app designed for creators. Instagram exists to help people express their creativity and we want to build the best creative tools to help you do this, not just on Instagram or Facebook, but on any platform.”
With the Edits app, you keep track of your ideas, manage projects, edit, and export videos without watermarks — all without leaving the app. It includes a bunch of powerful tools such as a high-quality camera, a frame-accurate timeline, AI-powered animation, and more. You can also see what’s working using an inspiration feed of reels with trending audio.
So, you can now capture videos up to 10 minutes and publish in enhanced video quality, using several creation features such as touch up, green screen, the music catalogue, timer, and countdown. Meta also promised that it will add a few new features to the app soon. The blog post mentions some of the upcoming functionalities, such as Key frames, Modify with AI, Collaboration, and More creative tools.
Meta says, based on users’ feedback, it will keep integrating top-requested features into Edits. Now, all Android users, including Galaxy owners, can download the Edits app for free from the Play Store. To use the app, you just have to sign in with your Instagram account.
