Samsung launches a Fan Edition (FE) variant of its flagship S series phones every year, and this year seems to be no exception. If everything is progressing as expected, Samsung is likely already working on the FE version of the Galaxy S25. Once it arrives, it will be the fifth device in the lineup, including the Galaxy S25 Edge. A new report has now revealed early signs of the chipset that could power the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE.

According to Android Authority, the Galaxy S25 FE might skip Snapdragon chipsets entirely. The publication has spotted signs that Samsung could be using the Exynos 2400e chip in the upcoming device.
The report also explains that Samsung assigns internal codenames to its Fan Edition (FE) phones. For example, the Galaxy S23 FE is labeled R11, the S24 FE is R12, and the Galaxy S25 FE is expected to carry the codename R13. Both the S24 FE and the rumored S25 FE appear to be using the same Exynos 2400e chipset. Now, this doesn’t look good.
Although the Exynos 2400e is not a bad chip, it already trails behind Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The performance gap becomes even more noticeable with Snapdragon 8 Elite. If Samsung continues to use the Exynos 2400e for the Galaxy S25 FE or even a potential Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE in late 2025, these devices might feel outdated compared to other flagship phones.
This may be a cost-saving move by Samsung, but it could disappoint users who prioritize speed and performance. Relying on older hardware might affect the appeal of these otherwise affordable alternatives. It’s worth noting that Android Authority’s AssembleDebug had previously detailed the chipsets for the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, and both devices launched with the expected configurations.
