by | Apr 19, 2025 | Galaxy S, News

Update April 20, 2025, 10:15 AM EST: Samsung India is offering free screen replacement for Galaxy S21 and S22 series (h/t @KeepUPwithOneUI). Original reporting follows…

Samsung India has extended one-time free screen replacement program for Galaxy phones affected by the green line display issue. What was originally set to wrap up in December 2024 will now run through September 30, 2025. That means if you have a unit plagued with green line issue, you can take that to service center and get it replaced for free (excluding labor charges).

Samsung extends free screen replacement for green line affected units until September in India

According to screenshots shared by Tarun Vats, Samsung’s customer support confirmed the extended deadline and ongoing eligibility for free screen replacements in India. It currently only mentions the Galaxy S21 and S22 Ultra.

Samsung India has yet to reveal a full list of eligible devices for this extended phase. SammyGuru has reached out to the company for clarification and will update this article once an official statement is received.

The green line issue, which appears vertically on the phone’s display, has been widely reportedly by Galaxy S21 series (including FE) and Galaxy S22 Ultra users in the past. While the exact cause remains unclear, many users began noticing the problem after software updates. Which is why we also urged some of you to not install the security patch last month.

User reports have spiked in the last few weeks. And now many are also reporting similar issues with the Galaxy S23 series. One user with a Galaxy S23 Ultra even received a free screen replacement despite their phone being out of warranty.

If you’re in India and have been facing the green line issue on your Galaxy device, now is a good time to visit a Samsung service center and take advantage of the extended support window. The deadline may not be extended again, so be sure to act fast, ideally before September 30, 2025.
