Launched in early 2021, Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series has now entered its fifth and final year of guaranteed software support. Under Samsung’s update policy, the lineup is eligible for four generations of Android upgrades and five years of security updates. Naturally, some Galaxy S21 users might be wondering if their devices have reached the end of the line for new features, or if One UI 7 is still on the cards. We’ve got the answer.
Yes, One UI 7 is coming to the Galaxy S21 series
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra back in January 2021, and the lineup turned four earlier this year. While these phones are nearing the end of their official support window, the company isn’t quite done with them yet. The 2021 flagships are still eligible for One UI 7, Samsung’s Android 15 update.
While the One UI 7 rollout is already underway, it may be a while before the update reaches the Galaxy S21 series. It is expected to be available for these four-year-old Samsung flagships sometime in May. An exact date hasn’t been confirmed, but the rollout will happen in stages. Some users may receive it earlier than others, depending on region and carrier.
Shipped with Android 11 and One UI 3, this will be the final major OS upgrade for the Galaxy S21. After this, these devices will continue to receive security patches for another year, likely until January 2026. Samsung will then drop support for the phones — it recently ended software support for the Galaxy S20 series.
The Galaxy S21 FE, launched a year later in 2022, is also scheduled to get One UI 7 in May. However, since it shipped with Android 12 (One UI 4), it’s eligible for one more OS upgrade — One UI 8 (Android 16). The Fan Edition model’s final OS update may arrive in the second half of 2025.
