Samsung was widely expected to release a big update for the Galaxy S25 series this month, and it’s finally here. The April update is now rolling out to Samsung’s latest flagships, and it’s more than just a routine security patch. Along with performance improvements, the update brings enhancements to the camera, charging, and user interface, as well as a handful of new features.

Samsung often doesn’t tell the full story in its changelogs, and that’s the case with the latest update for the Galaxy S25 lineup. The company says stability improvements for charging, camera, and the overall system, alongside the April security patch. However, early reports from users who have installed the update reveal some notable additions.

For starters, Samsung has refreshed the charging animation for a more polished look. It must be rolling out the same change it pushed to the Galaxy S24 series with One UI 7 Beta 6 or the stable release. On that note, the Galaxy S25 series should also be getting the chunky battery icon that most of us aren’t very fond of. It’s unclear why Samsung doesn’t want to stick with the leaner icon.

Nonetheless, the April update for the Galaxy S25 series also adds support for media player controls in Now Bar and Live Notifications. This gives users more flexibility to control media playback on their phones. The “camera stabilization” Samsung mentioned in the changelog isn’t immediately clear, but we don’t expect any notable new features there. It must be minor adjustments for improved performance.

Last but not least, this update contains the April security patch, which addresses over 60 vulnerabilities. Samsung is currently rolling out the update for the Galaxy S25 trio in Korea. It comes with the build version AYD9 and weighs nearly 800MB, depending on the model. Samsung should expand the rollout globally in the coming days. Users in other markets should keep an eye out for notifications.
