Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7 update brings significant upgrades across the system. However, that may not be the case with One UI 8, based on Android 16. The Korean firm looks set to release One UI 8 early, and it may be able to do that because of less work. A fresh leak claims to show the One UI 8 user interface for Settings and Gallery, revealing what Samsung has in store for the next big update.
One UI 8 design leaks ahead of official reveal
Last month, Samsung’s servers listed the One UI 8 internal firmware build of Galaxy S25, hinting at its ongoing testing. An X user (@Alfaturk16) recently managed to install an internal One UI 8 build on their Galaxy Z Flip 6 via the Remote test lab. The user installed the build version CYD7, which weighs over 3GB and bundles the April 2025 security patch.
This gives us a glimpse of the quick panel and the redesigned Gallery app of One UI 8. We can see the media player in the quick panel and the live notifications that show the real-time status of ongoing activities. These aren’t new additions — we already have both features in One UI 7. However, Samsung may improve its functionality in One UI 8.
Additionally, the user shared an image of the Gallery settings of One UI 8 that shows some changes compared to One UI 7. With the One UI 7 gallery app, we see eight options in icon shape, divided into two parts vertically, each containing four options. These options are Video, Favorites, Recent, Clean out, Locations, Shared Album, Trash, and Settings.
But in One UI 8, the settings are divided into three parts vertically. In the first part, we see four options in a round-shaped icon: Video, Favorites, Recent, and Locations. The second part adds Shared Album and Clean Out options within the pill-shaped element. The third section also adds pill-shaped icons for the Trash and Settings options.
If Samsung is serious about introducing One UI 8 in July this year, we should learn more details in the coming weeks. The company has already made the internal One UI 8 build available through the Remote Test Lab for developers to try out, so expect more leaks soon.
