You might think the hottest news right now is the stable rollout of One UI 7.0, and you’d be right. But Samsung isn’t hitting the brakes there. Right on schedule, it’s already expanding internal testing of the Android 16-based One UI 8.0 for the Galaxy S25 series.
Samsung continues testing internal One UI 8.0 builds for the Galaxy S25
After internally testing the One UI 8.0 build for the Galaxy S25 global variant, Samsung is now expanding testing to the Korean models. This comes via ever-resourceful Tarun Vats on X. The device in question carries the model number SM-S938N. Here, the ‘N’ suffix indicates it’s the Korean variant of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The firmware version shown in the screenshot is S938NKSU2BYD6, which is an upgrade from the previously shared S938BXXU1BYC1 build.
This suggests that internal testing is ramping up for the upcoming One UI 8.0 in home country. With rumors swirling that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 will launch running One UI 8.0 out of the box, it’s not too surprising that test builds are already out in the wild for the S25 series. After all, alongside the upcoming foldables, the Galaxy S25 series will be among the first to run One UI 8.0. Yes, either in beta or stable form.
Another factor pushing this timeline is Google’s rapid-fast development of Android 16. That aligns with earlier speculation that Samsung could make up for the One UI 7.0 delay by releasing One UI 8.0 early. That said, word on the street is that One UI 8.0 may be a lighter update compared to One UI 7.0. After all, One UI 7.0 marks one of the most significant overhauls in recent memory. We’ve our own wishlist of features we’d love to see in One UI 8.0. And Samsung, if you’re listening, you might want to bookmark that.
