Samsung is gearing up to launch its next-gen rugged mobile devices, including the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro smartphone and Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro tablet. A few days ago, both devices gained official support pages in several countries. Now, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro has picked up regulatory approval from the US government’s FCC, hinting at a nearing release.

It is worth noting that the Galaxy XCover 7 Pro has already cleared the FCC certification process. So, the Korean firm may announce both rugged devices simultaneously in the coming weeks..

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro secures the FCC certification ahead of launch

Folks over at Xpertpick recently spotted an unannounced Samsung tablet with model number SM-X356B on the FCC database. Although the FCC listing did not reveal the marketing name of the device, previous reports indicate that the company will call it the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro.

As expected, the FCC listing doesn’t include complete specifications, but it did provide some details. The FCC label confirms that the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro will offer 128GB of storage, though Samsung could launch the tablet in more storage configurations. It will support the S Pen and a microSD card slot. The tablet’s EP-T150 power adapter supports 15W charging.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro will be available in a 5G version. In fact, the SM-X356 certified by the FCC is the 5G model, while the Wi-Fi model bears the model number SM-X350. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 5, NFC, and Bluetooth.

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro will arrive as an improved version of the Tab Active 5, which was launched in January 2024. Last month, we spotted the upcoming rugged tablet on Geekbench, which revealed some of its key details, such as the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and Android 15 OS. As its launch is just around the corner, more details should emerge in the coming weeks.
