If a new rumor holds true, Samsung may do the unbelievable later this year. Within months of rolling out One UI 7, the company could release One UI 8. Yes, you read that right — Galaxy users may not have to wait several months for the Android 16 update as it’s said to arrive in July or August.
Samsung tipped to release One UI 8 early
Samsung typically rolls out the beta version of its major One UI updates in Q3 and follows up with the stable build in Q4. However, the One UI 7 update has been off track by a considerable margin. Expected to arrive by the end of 2024, it’s finally rolling out this week. If Samsung delivers on its promise, the big Android 15 update could arrive within the next few hours.
Thankfully, the Android 16-based One UI 8 update may not face such lengthy delays. A recent report said Samsung plans to ship the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 with One UI 8 out of the box. If true, the next major One UI version will go official as early as July this year, or at the latest by August.
Google may also deserve some credit for the early arrival of One UI 8. It’s launching Android 16 earlier than usual, with the next major update set to go official in June. Since Samsung made tons of UI changes and enhancements with One UI 7 — which took longer to develop and test — One UI 8 should be a comparatively smaller update, hence an earlier release.
Of course, Samsung has yet to officially confirm anything regarding One UI 8. However, as far as One UI 7 is concerned, it’s confirmed to go live on Monday, April 7. Samsung may still be rolling out this update when Google drops Android 16 in June. It would be an incredible turnaround if it manages to release One UI 8 a couple of months later.
