Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip FE may not feature a full-view cover screen. The Fan Edition foldable will reportedly retain the folder-shaped cover screen design previously seen on the Galaxy Z Flip 6. This is one of the many ways Samsung plans to differentiate between the two upcoming Flip models.

Galaxy Z Flip FE to sport Flip 6-like cover screen

Since introducing its first Flip foldable in 2020, Samsung has refined the design with each new iteration. While the overall form factor remains the same, the cover screen has seen substantial upgrades. The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to feature the biggest cover screen on a Galaxy Z Flip yet. We are in for a 4-inch, edge-to-edge panel that houses the two rear-facing cameras within it.

Of course, we have seen such full-view cover screens on Motorola foldables before, so Samsung is playing catch-up here rather than leading the foldable innovation — there are several areas where Galaxy foldables remain unmatched. However, the company doesn’t plan to offer the same upgrade on the Galaxy Z Flip FE.

The FE is a new model in Samsung’s foldable lineup. It is a more affordable offering with a less powerful chipset and potentially other compromises. In terms of looks, Samsung is seemingly differentiating between the Flip 7 and Flip FE by keeping the latter’s cover screen design similar to last year’s Flip 6. The fold-shaped display could measure 3.6 inches diagonally — that’s what the Flip 7’s cover screen was said to measure until we heard about a full-view design.

There are contrasting reports regarding the Galaxy Z Flip FE’s launch. While some say Samsung will unveil it alongside the Fold 7 and Flip 7 in July, others hint at a delay of 2-3 months. Expect more details to emerge in the coming months as the Korean behemoth speeds up the development.
