Google is making its messaging app exciting to use once again. If you are a user of Google Message, there is a good chance that you may have run into Google’s screen effects within the app. These effects show up when you use specific reactions or emojis, and they are very animated and fun. Earlier, there were about 15 animations, but Google has eventually expanded them to over 24.
Google Messages adds full-screen animations when you pair emojis
The company has recently added new screen effects, which are animations that fill the entire screen. According to a report from Android Authority, until now, these screen effects on Google Messages could only be activated by typing specific trigger phrases or texts. However, it seems Google has now expanded this to include certain emojis.
Now, when you send pairs of select emojis, the Messages app responds with animations. It is worth noting that both the emojis have to be the same. The animations work even when you send texts alongside the double emojis and not just the emojis by themselves. Sometimes, there is a screen effect that takes up the entire display.
While it is unclear when Google added this, people have started noticing this new addition recently. There were no official teasers or announcements regarding these new animations either. At the moment, Android Authority has not done exhaustive testing of all the available combinations of phrases and emojis, so they do not know all of them. The known text trigger phrases currently trigger the same earlier full-screen animations.
If you use RCS chats next time, you can try using a double emoji combination and check the screen responses you get. For now, Android Authority has identified a list of combinations of emojis that currently trigger the animations. These are —
