After the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review), Samsung’s next major upgrade will be the Galaxy Z Fold 7. There’s no doubt about it. Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 at the next Unpacked event, which typically takes place in July or August. If luck is on our side, we might even see the Galaxy G Fold (better known as tri-fold). Well, ahead of the big Galaxy Z Fold 7 reveal, a major camera upgrade has been tipped.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is tipped to feature a 200MP primary camera
Dutch publication GalaxyClub reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will feature a 200MP primary camera. Yes, the same one as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The publication also notes that this will be the first Fold outside South Korea to have such a camera. It’s referring to the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which also sports a 200MP main camera. However, it’s only available in South Korea and China (under a different name). So, this would indeed be a huge camera upgrade when it arrives.
The camera upgrade also corroborates previous rumors from other sources, which claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will indeed get a 200MP primary lens on the rear. This suggests the full camera setup could consist of a 200MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens. That would mark a significant leap, as the current Galaxy Z Fold 6 features only a 50MP primary camera.
Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor under the hood. That will be paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Display size upgrades are also in the pipeline, with the Fold 7 rumored to sport a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8.2-inch main screen. Samsung is also focusing on improving thickness and hinge durability.
