Samsung Display Teases Tri-Fold Asymmetric Flip Concept at MWC 2025

Samsung is showing off some super cool foldable concepts at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. From what we know, Samsung plans to release a tri-fold (aka, the Galaxy G Fold) in the coming months or, more likely, early next year. On top of that, Samsung unveiled a slick-looking tri-fold flip phone, called Asymmetric Flip. In case you missed it, it looks to build on the idea of a recently revealed tri-fold patent, though it’s a whole different ballgame.

Samsung showed off the Asymmetric Flip for the first time. Essentially, it’s a tri-fold design similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, though without a cover display. For what it’s worth, it’s still just a concept and won’t be hitting the market anytime soon. But to be honest, it looks cool, compact, and, yes, undeniably futuristic.

In a video shared by Android Authority, we can spot the Asymmetric Flip featuring a dual-camera setup on the rear, with both lenses placed side by side. That’s much like the upcoming Flip 7 renders, though without a flash. Since it’s still a concept, I’ve got nothing to complain about. The USB-C port sits at the bottom, while the supposed power button is on the left.

That said, the fact that Samsung is showcasing such a concept at a major trade show suggests that Samsung Display is actively developing tri-fold panels for clamshell (Flip) devices as well. If everything falls into place, we might see one launch… not immediately, but eventually. After all, Samsung Display first revealed a tri-fold prototype a few years ago, and the G Fold still hasn’t hit the market. So you get what I’m hinting at.
