While a Qi2-compatible magnetic case can enhance wireless charging on your Galaxy S25 Ultra, it may also introduce an unexpected issue. Some third-party magnetic cases and accessories interfere with S Pen signals, leading to erratic behavior and potential loss of functionality. The exact issues vary depending on the type of accessory and its thickness.

Be prepared for S Pen issues when putting a magnetic case on your Galaxy S25 Ultra

Over the past several months, many Galaxy S24 Ultra users reported S Pen issues when using a magnetic case or other magnetic accessories. This year, Samsung removed Bluetooth connectivity from the S Pen, dropping Air Actions support. The Galaxy 25 Ultra doesn’t let you use the S Pen as a remote camera shutter. Additionally, the new flagship supports Qi2 wireless charging via compatible magnetic cases.

Considering all the changes, we expected Samsung to address the signal interference issues its S Pen has with magnetic accessories. But not to be. The same issues persist on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, as confirmed by Android Central. When using a magnetic case from Fiberborne, the Galaxy S25 Ultra displayed the following warning message stating.

“Magnetic accessories can interfere with your S Pen: The magnets in accessories can interfere with the signals your S Pen sends to your phone. They may cause your S Pen to not write correctly or cause Air commands to occur unintentionally.”

Beyond just the warning message, users have reported real performance issues when using the S Pen with magnetic accessories. According to Android Authority, while using a magnetic case on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the S Pen failed to work properly when positioned directly above the magnets. It functioned normally on other areas of the screen.

Interestingly, when tested with Samsung’s silicone case and a MagSafe adapter, the issue didn’t occur. This suggests that factors such as case material, thickness, and magnet placement could influence the extent of the interference. If you own a Galaxy S25 or S25+, Samsung’s Clear Magnet Case is an excellent option for Qi2 support and magnetic accessory compatibility. However, if you have a Galaxy S25 Ultra and frequently use the S Pen, you may want to avoid magnetic cases to ensure the stylus works correctly.
